Founded in 1946 by Bill and Dorothy Allen, Blue Mountain Ranch was founded on the principle of participation over competition. BMR feels strongly that it is more important than ever for kids to disconnect from the fast-paced technological world we live in to just be kids. We provide a safe place where kids can play outdoors from sun up to sun down. Being surrounded by Pike National Forest gives campers a chance to hike or ride horses through some of Colorado's prettiest areas.
Our number one goal at Blue Mountain Ranch is to bring a mountain of smiles to your child’s face every day. At BMR, each child is an extension of our family and everything we do is designed to help build outstanding people.
Our objectives are: to help our kids develop emotionally, morally, and physically, to help our kids learn to love and respect the great outdoors, to teach our kids to get along with others and embrace diversity, to teach our kids to walk softly upon our earth, be kind to our forests and public parks, and save our planet for the next generation, to love each of our kids individually and help them according to their particular needs, to teach our kids thoughtfulness and selflessness - to think of family first, friends second, and self last.
By allowing campers to choose their own daily schedule, kids gain independence. They get to choose 5 activities that they would like to participate in for a week. If they don't like an activity, they can easily change into another. This helps insure campers get the chance to try as many different activities as possible.

Our staff is college aged and hand-picked by our directors. They are run through several background checks. Some are certified in specific fields like; horseback, swimming, canoeing, challenge course, rappelling, archery or riflery. Many of them are former campers.
Meal time is an exciting time around camp, such as TACO TUESDAY!! Meals are served family style or buffet and campers sit with their cabins. Our meals are made fresh with as many fresh ingredients as possible, insuring nutritious meals. Our chefs do a great job so that every child eats at every meal regardless of how picky the eater.
On Sunday nights we have our Chapel Under the Stars. BMR respects all faiths. Our message is to be kind to one another, accept people for who they are, practice good morals and friendship. Directors and counselors share stories and messages that carry these themes before we open it up to our campers, who sometime are wise beyond their years. During this time, Campers of the Week are recognized, selected by staff. This isn't a popularity contest; it recognizes campers who embody the Blue Mountain Spirit. It could be a camper helping out in activities or helping another camper, a camper overcoming homesickness, or a camper who conquered their fears.
